Every planet gives rise to a state of consciousness accompanied by propensities to which actions are undertaken by an individual. Each is distinctive in its influence, implications, and correspondence to specific colors (or wavelengths), metals, endocrine glands, organs of the body, musical notes, activities, manifestation of events, and zodiacal signs which it rules. Each also has its positive and negative traits, based on how a person exercises free will in response to urges.
The Sun and Moon, which really are not planets, have special significance beyond just “inclinational” influences. Known as the luminaries or “lights”, they signify the most fundamental aspects of a person’s being without which life would not be possible.

There is a misconception that I've observed among a number of astrologers (and astrological literature) when it comes to the meaning of intercepted houses. It is often stated that intercepted house pairs and signs represent a suppression of energies, qualities and abilities...or difficulty expressing oneself in such areas...or indicative of problems early in life that cause blockages pertinent to the intercepted house pair.
But, that simply is not the case. Intercepted house pairs are a strong indicator of one's life calling. They show the vocations (or avocations) to which an individual gravitates and is most suited. A person's participation in activities related to the intercepted houses increase or is greater than average.
